Sometimes a collaboration fits so naturally that it feels as if it was meant to be there always. That is exactly what we experienced with the project of Mattone Bouwmeesters, a villa builder who merges living, interior, kitchen, and garden into one lived-in whole.
For De Woontuin, an exclusive show environment where all disciplines come together, two were freestanding RAEN outdoor showers gelFurnished and installed. Two locations, two atmospheres, two color choices. And one shared conviction: that the outside and inside must connect seamlessly.
About De Woontuin
The Living Garden is no ordinary showroom. It is a complete living environment, realized by three parties, each bringing their own discipline and togetherand form a single whole: Mattone Bouwmeesters for the home and the overall concept, VDK·VDW Green Master for the garden and greenery, and Roostr Outdoor Kitchens for outdoor kitchens and outdoor living. Three companies, one vision.
By appointment, visitors can experience what is possible when the home, interior, outdoor kitchen, and garden are designed as a total concept. No separate disciplines side by side, but one lived-in whole from the inside out.
The opening was celebrated with an afternoon filled with invited guests, partners, and peers. As a partner, RAEN Outside had the privilege of being part of that company, a position we hold with pride.
The philosophy of this trio aligns directly with that of RAEN Outside: a meaningful living environment is created when the inside and outside are seamlessly designed and experienced as a single whole.
RAEN Ridge in Ashdune — next to the thatched outbuilding
The first shower is de RAEN Ridge in the color Ashdune, a warm grey shade with subtle depth. It is placed in a narrow side path next to the house, between a light-colouredthe facade cladding and a dark wooden partition wall. The background consists of a thatched outbuilding with an oak structure and dark window frames.
The choice of color is deliberate: Ashdune moves between the light and the dark. It reflects the light from the facade while simultaneously creating a natural connection with the dark wood color of the wall behind it. The black base plate of the Ridge model reinforces that connection.
The result is a freestanding outdoor shower which you only see when you stand next to it, and which then seems to be exactly in its place.
RAEN Ridge in Sandstone — next to the hot tub
The second location calls for a very different feel. Here staat the RAEN Ridge in Sandstone, the Warm sandy tones inspired by sandstone and marble, on a composite deck next to a hot tub. The background is a sculptural partition of light wood with arched cutouts, a granite facade, and lush planting.
The color Sandstone matches the tone of the wood, the tiles, and the light granite wall perfectly. The shower is not situated next to it, but within it, as if it were part of the design from the very beginning.
The close-up photo of the curved shower head, with pine needles in the background and the arched shape of the wooden wall in the frame, shows how a well-designed product is beautiful even out of its context. That is the test every RAEN model must pass.
What this project shows
The Woontuin by Mattone Bouwmeesters is a place where every detail is a choice. Anyone who gets to be a partner there must be capable of handling that level in execution, appearance, and the color choices made.
Two showers, two very different placesn in the same garden, each with its own color and context.
